Hi, I’m Katie. I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and Ayurvedic Health Consultant. Based in my hometown, Santa Cruz, CA, I offer individual counseling, public and private event yoga classes, workshops and retreats.
I found yoga when I was sixteen years old. As a State Champion runner and competitive soccer player, my fascination with the mind-body connection is what first sparked my interest. It was during my challenging college years, overwhelmed by anxiety, where the mat became a place of refuge and I discovered the deeper transformative powers of meditation, yoga, and psychotherapy. I went on to study at the Mount Madonna Institute and later with Yogrishi Vishvketu at the Anand Prakash Ashram in Rishikesh, India, as well as with Janet Stone in San Francisco. Through the lens of Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, my flow and yin yoga classes are typically seasonally inspired.
A forever student, I continued my exploration at the California Institute of Integral Studies and earned my Master’s in Integral Counseling Psychology. I am a holistic, depth therapist with a client-centered approach, so counseling is individualized to meet your unique needs and goals. I hold this as sacred work and offer a compassionate space for inquiry and discovery, where you can show up and meet yourself as you are.
Utilizing mindfulness and an approach to therapy called Internal Family Systems (IFS), I help clients get unstuck and develop more self-compassion, self-leadership and personal agency. I hope to empower you to expand your capacity to be with the wide array of emotions and experiences and navigate the challenges that life brings with more ease and grace.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the redwoods, cooking and sharing meals and conversation, practicing yoga, exploring new movement, live music and dancing, and gathering with community.
I would be honored to walk alongside you on this path of remembering and evolving, together.
